Another nice review of Come Out And Play with Bourgeois Heroes

Another nice review of Come Out And Play with Bourgeois Heroes. (Jason Bourgeois is sometimes known as Jason Dahl).

Bourgeois Heroes, Come Out and Play with Bourgeois Heroes (I Eat Records/Rub Wrongways Records). The bands of Jason Dahl (from The Sarcastics to The Frills to Bourgeois Heroes to The Novels) stand out not just because of their clear, cool influences (late-'60s Kinks, Jonathan Richman, Belle & Sebastian) but because Dahl also understands the influences of those influences (Buddy Holly, Velvet Underground, skiffle). "Bavarian Baby" (which Jason played solo at an Advocate-sponsored ukulele night at Cafe Nine in August '06), has been given a spare yet twinkling studio sound, while the similarly uke-infused "Judy" has a richer, layered sound. The rest is appealing, leisurely yet compelling guitar-friendly pop-rock, with motivating beats and earnest, chirpy vocals. A mere six songs seem not enough, and yet they stand up to endless replaying.
